Heras® Brand Trademark Guidelines

The Heras® brand is a well-known name in many European countries and even around the world. It is a registered trademark in almost every European country, the US and Canada. Needless to say, we are very proud of that! You may use our brand if you sell or rent products from us, but we have to protect the Heras® brand. To protect our trademark, we have established guidelines to ensure that the Heras® brand is used accurately and correctly at all times. Read more about how and when to use our iconic trademark.

The invention of the fence

In 1952, Frans Ruigrok conceived the idea of standardising fencing. This was the start of a series of innovative fencing systems and components.

Origin of the Heras® Trademark

The Heras® trademark was created by combining the Dutch words “HEk” and “RASterwerk”. It is nowadays a leading European provider of permanent and temporary perimeter protection solutions. It operates from more than 25 countries and employs more than 1100 highly trained experts.

Trademark Guidelines

1. The Heras® trademark may only be used in connection with genuine Heras® branded products. Do not use the Heras® brand in any manner with third-party products, including, but not limited to, using the term “Heras-fencing,”, “Heras-like fencing or other comparative ways.

2. The Heras® trademark must always be used in the following format:

  1. Use the original trademark name and always follow with the registration symbol ® .
  2. Put the word “brand” after the registration symbol, for example, “Heras® brand or depict the trademark in capital letters: HERAS® .”
  3. The designation “Heras® brand” must be followed by the generic name of the product type, such as “fences”, “gates” or a product name. For example, “we offer Heras® brand fences.” Alternatively, instead of including the wording brand depict the trademark in capital letters. For example, “we offer HERAS® fences”

3. Never incorporate the Heras® trademark, into your or a third party’s company name, product name or model number, or to create a new brand or trademark for fencing products or similar products and services.

4. Never hyphenate or abbreviate the Heras® trademark.

5. All HERAS® companies’ product trademarks as mentioned under 5.H1 must always be used in the following format:

  1. Use the original trademark name and always following with the registration symbol ® .
  2. The product mark must always be preceded by the Heras® trademark, for example: “Heras® brand S-GATE®” or “HERAS® S-GATE”.
  3. The trademark designation must be followed by the generic name of the product, for example, “Heras® brand S-GATE® gates”, “Heras® brand uGate® sliding gates” or “HERAS® S-GATE® gates”, “HERAS® uGate® sliding gates”  .

6. Do you use the Heras® trademark on your website or in printed material, for example? Always include the following trademark notice in at least one place on every website or print material where the Heras® mark is used:

  1. “Heras® is a registered trademark of HERAS B.V. We use this trademark with permission from Heras B.V..” 
  2. Please include all the Heras® companies’ trademarks that you use in the notice.

7. When referring to the manufacturers of the Heras® brand products, always use the designation “Heras companies.” Please do not capitalise the entire word “Heras®,” do not use the ® registration symbol, and do not use the company name/trademark “Heras” alone.
