Safeglide 2 – New Reliability Statistics Revealed

The Safeglide 2 the High Fidelity Gate

Testing Data:

The reliability of the Safeglide 2 sliding gates are tested by duration tests (taking place 24hours, 7 days a week)

Tested: Safeglide 2 9 meter passage and 2,4 meter high with a bar infill.

Starting from a normal use of the gate for 50 cycle a day, 5 days a week (13000 cycle/year)

When this is compared to the cycle test, the mean time to failure of the gate is about 10 years*

Final result: 130 000 cycles

Tested: Safeglide 2 8 meter passage and 2,4 meter high with a zenith infill.

Starting from a normal use of the gate for 50 cycle a day, 5 days a week (13000 cycle/year)

When this is compared to the cycle test, the mean time to failure of the gate is about 12 years*

Final result: 156 000 cycles

Background Info about the development and testing process:

The development of the Safeglide 2 product was a collaboration between Heras Technology & Innovation Departments from the UK and the Netherlands. The design and development of the Safeglide 2 has been subjected to a very structured and analytical approach. Extensive testing of the Safeglide 2  gate ensures the safety, reliability and endurance of the product prior to its launch. This testing is imperative to ensure the product meets all performance parameters set out in the product specification, directives, standards and safety requirements

In addition to the more traditional approach to design via calculations being carried out to determine load paths and point loading; Heras has started to embrace computer based analysis, which allows us to get a much clearer picture and a high fidelity design via the implementation of finite element analysis, point loading, geometry analysis and reaction load analysis. Computer Analysis is also used to determine compliance to Wind Class 3, which ensures the Safeglide 2 product is structurally capable of withstanding 72 Mph wind speeds

Accelerated fatigue testing was simultaneously carried out using multiple test gates located both here in the UK and in the Netherlands. This allowed us to simulate demanding and vigorous test regimes; the data acquired from the test is used to determine the expected lifespan and durability of the product and each of its individual components.

This testing is essential to analytically determine the correct service intervals and regimes needed to ensure the longevity and safety of the Safeglide 2 product. At recorded intervals, the components were checked for wear and fatigue. All data acquired from gates installed in the Middle East and other locations has been fed back to the Technology & Innovation departments so that this data can be used to properly track and graph out the products performance.

Nothing is left to chance all data is recorded and analysed. This constant accrual of product performance data allows development of other products as it ensure the absolute accuracy and high fidelity of Heras Products.
