Heras wins ION Borghardt Award with Grence fence line

On 7 October, the Heras Grence fence line won the ION Borghardt Award. ION is the association for industrial surface treating in the Netherlands.

From numerous submissions, eight companies were nominated for the ION Borghardt Award. The jury, with Arjan Mol (Technical University Delft) as president, primarily paid attention to the criteria ‘innovative in industrial surface engineering’, ‘chain optimisation’, and ‘added value for the market’. Guido Landheer, director Top sectors and Industry policy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, handed the award to Heras.

Patented technique

Heras Grence is the result of the patented Heras Stent Technology. The innovation makes welding redundant, and through sendzimir-galvanization, it delivers a smooth and shiny appearance. For Grence, a so-called twist lock is used. The bars are screwed in the upper beam, so without welding. Then follows the fixation in the lower beam with the Heras Stent Technology.

Green production, up to 70% less CO2

The green Grence production method requires less zinc, is less labour intensive and reduces handling. In the complete pre-process, the CO2 emissions can be reduced by up to 70%.

Statement Heras

Heinrich Guth, Process Development Manager at Heras: “Grence was developed based on market requests. Clients wish less environmental taxes, robust and yet stylish fences, and value for money. That is why we wish and why we have to do sendzimir galvanizing1. This method is still received with some hesitation in the fencing industry, which is another reason why I am very happy with this recognition.”

Heras Grence – “the new generation bar fencing in terms of durability and pricing” – is available in the versions Atlas and Heracles.
